Distrust - because sanitize just doesn't cut it

Distrust is a Firefox extension that came to fill the need to privacy on your computer. Distrust aims to create a silent browsing experience which means that the browser should leave the computer as it was when browsing began.

Hi again.

I’m very sorry for the long time it took to get version 0.8.1 to be on Mozilla official update site but its finally there. The delay was caused because of a misunderstanding between me and the addon reviewers.

I recommend downloading the addon from there as updates will only be available from there.

To be honest I have very little time to invest in the extension.

I read all the comments you send me but I just don’t have time to answer them all.

In the near term I will only work on bugs that I can locate but no new features are planned as I just don’t have time for it.

This does not mean I’m abandoning the add-on but that development will be very slow.

I’ll update some more when I’ll have the time.

There was a problem with the website where version 0.8.1 was removed by mistake.

Its back again and you can get it here.

This version was submitted to mozilla addons about 3 months ago but was yet to be approved.

I have no Idea why.

I have resubmitted it today in hope it will be approved soon.

no other change was made.

So FF3 is out and what about DT?

The fact is that its ready - BUT

FF3 supports install only from secure servers.

Since I don’t have one FF3 installs can not be done from this website any more.

You’ll have to head to http://addons.mozilla.org for that.

Version 0.8.1 which supports both Firefox 3 and Firefox 2 was submitted a week and a half ago but was not approved yet.

If you can’t wait and want to install it you can get it from here.

If you download it keep in mind that you will not receive automatic updates for it  any more since updates will only come from addons.mozilla.org.

God Speed FF3

So….

It has been a really long time. An for those who waited so long I hope it was worth it since its not going to get any better any soon.

First a new version is upon us. 0.8

Whats new in this version…

Well closing tabs support was added. This means that after you enable DT during a session all changed and newly opened tabs/ windows are marked.

Once you close DT it will close all the open tabs and revert the changed tabs to the original state.

Not everybody will like this feature so it can be turned off from the options menu.

Also I know that you are waiting for FF 3 support and this will come soon.I’m working on it and it should show up here in the next couple of weeks.

Last a bug has been discovered in the flash cookie handling - so if DT is giving you a hard time please diable the feature via the options dialog and see if it helps.

Till next time…

There seems to be a problem auto upgrading from version 0.7 to 0.7.1 for people who installed DT from this website.

People who installed DT from http://addons.mozilla.org will not have this problem.

So if you installed version 0.7 and want/need to upgrade please do so manually.

Sorry about that.
